Hi, My Name is Franky Beuselinck and I live in Aalter, a town located near Ghent and Bruges. I started my radiocareer while I was studying electronics. We used CB radios to exchange homework and to talk to friends during the weekend. A little later I discoverd you could use 11m also for DX, so I started to make my first DX contacts signing 16WC010. After receiving the TVI worked all neigbours award I went to the capital city, Brussels, to get my VHF license. I skipped the basic license and got my permit "private radio-op" and received the callsign ON1BP.
How it all started in the eightees First real shack, TS930SAT and matching speaker + XT PC
After a year of chit chat on local repeaters, I decided to get my HF license. That time (1996) you had to pass the 13wpm test. Lucky me, in my town we had a well known CW operator, ON4HX (SK) who organised morsetraining every evning on 2M. After a couple off months I knew all the signs and numbers so I went again to Brussels to get my HF permit. I was pretty nervous, but I passed the test and received a new call, ON4CEL. Soon after I bought my first HF transceiver, the kenwood TS930SAT. The VHF vertical was removed and replaced by a 3 element HF Yagi.

I worked new stations and new DXCC on a regular base and maintained my interest for CW. In 1998 Tiny, ON4CAT (now XXXXX) asked me to join her on her DX-pedition to Lybia. Didn't hesitated and I had a great time handing out new ones on CW and the low bands. A year later I did a solo trip to The Gambia. During March 1999 you were able to work me as C56EL. Made about 4000 QSOs during 9 days. More info of my trips can be found on my DXpeditions page.

At home I upgrade my station and bought a second hand Yaesu FT-990 which is still my main radio today. It's working flawlessly and I appriciate the built in keyer. I upgrade the antenna system and installed a TH6DXX and a A3WS but lost it a couple of years ago during a havy storm.
Installing the TH6DXX....25ft boom. Shack and FT990, logging with DX4WIN

Because of another interest I had to put the radio in the closet for a couple of years. I got involved in cyclocross and became a couple of times regional champion and world champion for the LRC. Also work took a fair amount of energy. I work for the national phone company, Belgacom, where I'm a teamleader of a service desk. I am responsible for remote repair of fast internet and digital television customers.  Early 2006 while planning a holiday to Corfu I decided to remove the dust from the transceivers and install a shack in the house I bought. This was the start of my second radio career. Whit this new start I decided to upgrade my call to a vanity call and replaced ON4CEL by ON7RU and OQ7R for contests. So, since my trip to Corfu in June 2006 I'm back @ full force. Love the hobby more then ever....   See you on the bands.
